Nugget

This Deluxe F is a genuine banjo killer. It’s made from the same beetle kill Englemann Spruce that I built my house from in 1970. The wood was at least 50 years old at that time. (see house photo below)

Many of you know well my F #62, which has been pronounced a monster by David Grisman and Chris Thile. This instrument, from the same top wood, is every bit the equal. Powerful ringing trebles and a low end that will knock your head off. It has that quick response which delivers the almighty chop.

The fingerboard is not radiused, and there is a small hole in the side where a traditional Gibson finger rest was once attached. It would be easy to make it less visible some day. The finish is lacquer, and with the usual minor pick marks. No actual gouging or deep scratches.
